Appointments for Paediatric Medical ICU
The University of Child Health Sciences (UCHS), Lahore and The Children’s Hospital invite applications
for newly created ad-hoc positions
to establish and strengthen the Paediatric
Medical ICU (PICU) and Paediatric Neurology services.
Appointments are offered for one year
or until the arrival of a regular incumbent (whichever is earlier) under
the Recruitment Policy 2022 and the Service Rules of the respective posts.
Openings span senior faculty, entry-level
faculty, registrars, and frontline clinical roles, including: Professor of Paediatric Intensive Care, Associate Professor of Paediatric Intensive Care, Associate Professor of Paediatric Neurology, Assistant Professor of Paediatric Intensive Care, Assistant Professor of Paediatric Neurology, Senior Registrar (Paediatric Intensive Care), Senior Registrar (Paediatric Neurology), and Medical Officer. All posts are Lahore-based at The Children’s Hospital/UCHS
and are BS-17 to BS-20 scale
appointments on ad-hoc terms.

Professor of Paediatric Intensive Care
(BS-20)
Basic: MBBS or equivalent qualification
recognized by PMDC +
registration with PMDC/PMC.
Preferred specialized certification (any
one): FCPS, MD, CCT, Diplomate of the American Board in Paediatric Critical Care Medicine or
equivalent qualification recognized by PMDC/PMC.
Where such specialized qualification is not available,
alternative eligibility pathways apply (e.g., FCPS
(Paediatrics), MD (Paediatrics), MRCPCH, or equivalent with structured post-graduate training/experience in Paediatric
Intensive Care from a recognized program, national board,
or international body).
Teaching/Experience: Cumulative experience at Associate Professor level in PICU or relevant
subspecialty, with research
publications (standard medical journals recognized by
PMDC/Higher Education Commission).
Age: 35–50 years.
Associate Professor of Paediatric Intensive
Care (BS-19)
Basic: MBBS + PMDC/PMC registration.
Specialized eligibility: As above (e.g., FCPS/MD/CCT/Diplomate American Board in Paediatric
Critical Care Medicine).
Alternate pathways exist for candidates with FCPS (Paediatrics)/MRCPCH/MD and documented PICU training/experience from
accredited programs, including required post-qualification
years and publications.
Teaching: About five years’
teaching experience as Assistant
Professor in PICU (or per rule), plus three research publications in recognized
journals.
Age: 30–50 years.
Associate Professor of Paediatric Neurology
(BS-19)
Basic: MBBS + PMDC/PMC registration.
Specialized eligibility (any one): FCPS, MD,
CCT, Diplomate American Board in Paediatric Neurology, or equivalent qualification
recognized by PMDC/PMC.
Alternate pathways if specialized certification is
unavailable: FCPS
(Paediatrics)/MD (Paediatrics)/MRCPCH, Diplomate American Board of Paediatrics with
recognized post-graduate training in
Paediatric Neurology (program accredited by CPSP/University/national board or an international
body recognized by PMDC/PMC), plus defined post-qualification
experience and publications.
Teaching: Approximately five years as Assistant
Professor Paediatric Neurology in a recognized institution
+ research publications.
Age: 30–50 years.
Assistant Professor of Paediatric Intensive
Care (BS-18)
Basic: MBBS + PMDC/PMC registration.
Specialized eligibility: FCPS/MD/CCT/Diplomate
American Board in Paediatric
Critical Care Medicine or equivalent.
Alternate: FCPS
(Paediatrics)/MD (Paediatrics)/MRCPCH/Diplomate American Board of Paediatrics with structured PICU training (national board/University/CPSP
or recognized international body) meeting the post-qualification
experience benchmark.

Assistant Professor of Paediatric Neurology
(BS-18)
Basic: MBBS + PMDC/PMC registration.

Senior Registrar — Paediatric Neurology

Basic: MBBS + PMDC/PMC registration.

American Board in Paediatric
Neurology or equivalent; alternate recognized routes via Paediatrics with post-graduate Neurology training (CPSP/University/international).

Medical Officer (BS-17)
Basic: MBBS or equivalent + PMDC/PMC registration.
House Job: One year house
job completed; one year
experience as Medical
Officer/PG in a Paediatric unit from a hospital/institute
recognized by PMDC is preferred (as stated).
Age: 22–50 years
What
You’ll Do — Role Snapshots
Professors/Associate Professors: Lead PICU/Paediatric
Neurology services, develop clinical governance, chair
morbidity & mortality meetings, oversee resident
training, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and drive quality and safety frameworks consistent with
tertiary pediatric care.
Assistant Professors: Deliver specialist clinical care, supervise
residents/registrars, contribute to curriculum,
rounds, simulations, and clinical audits; maintain a personal research agenda.
Senior Registrars: Provide frontline specialist coverage in
PICU/Paediatric Neurology, coordinate care with anesthesia, emergency,
radiology, cardiology, and rehabilitation; support teaching of PG trainees and house officers.
Medical Officers: Manage emergency
assessments, admissions, ward rounds, documentation, and safe
handovers under faculty supervision; rotate through PICU, neurology, and allied pediatric units.
